Love is in the air, and recently I have received a number of wedding and shower announcements. I even flew to Brooklyn, New York to attend my cousin Justin’s wedding to Ashley Graham, a gorgeous plus-sized Ford model.

Very few decorations were needed for this intimate wedding because they used the backdrop of the lovely Scottadito restaurant with its’ Tuscan–inspired décor The washed walls and warm tones gave their wedding and reception an authentic feel and the natural beauty of the outdoor space with a fence of bamboo and a water feature that set the tone for a peaceful spiritual wedding.

I especially enjoyed the grilled lamb they served for dinner.

The Graham/Ervin wedding was a beautiful intimate ceremony and I’m sure friends and family will remember this event for years to come.

Here are a few tips for planning your wedding or reception:

Consider utilizing a venue or restaurant that has an abundance of ambiance or a location that has a special meaning to you and your spouse.
Select flowers that are in season to cut down on costs, and create the centerpieces yourself. There is nothing more beautiful than a single orchid or rose in a crystal vase.

These same principals holds true when choosing your menu. Have an open conversation with your chef or caterer to insure that the majority of your meal is prepared with fresh fruits and vegetables from your local growers.

When planning a wedding or reception consider the venue and plan your theme around the decor of the chosen space. Utilizing the backdrop of the event space will save you time and money.

Last but not least make sure the venue is easy to get to and the hotels selected are conveinent for your guests.
