Mi-Ling Stone Poole is an award-winning columnist who wrote a weekly syndicated lifestyles and decorating column titled, “Ask Mi-Ling.”  Her column was featured in The Oklahoman and distributed around the country and in Canada through the McClatchy-Tribune News Service. Currently, she is a freelance travel writer and is writing her second book, “Little Red Corvette, The Woman Behind the Song.

In 2006, Stone Poole merged her passion for design with her journalism background to author “Ask Mi-Ling! When You Want the Truth About Decorating.” Her knack for design and cost-saving tips earned her weekly segments on “The Jack and Ron Morning Show” on KYIS 98.9 FM and “The Joey and Heather Morning Show” on Wild 97.9 FM.  Then in 2008, she produced and hosted “Mi-Ling’s Comfort Zone,” an award-winning lifestyles and decorating radio show that aired on Sundays, from noon to 1 p.m. on News Radio 1000 KTOK-AM in Oklahoma City until 2010. During the first year, “MCZ” earned a journalism award from the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists for her show on the tragic death of pop singer Michael Jackson. Previous guests who appeared on “MCZ” include; “The View’s” Sherri Shepherd, Supermodel Ashley Graham, Paige Hemmis of  HGTV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” HGTV’s Kim Myles and Taniya Nayak. Others include: famed percussionist Sheila E., and Prince’s former band member Dr. Fink, to name a few. 

Mi-Ling’s cost-saving decorating and lifestyle tips, as well as her gift-giving advice earned her regular segments as a lifestyle contributor for KWTV News9 (CBS), in Oklahoma City. She has also appeared on numerous morning shows throughout the country.

Stone Poole grew up in the Twin Cities with some of the major players in the music industry. Her relationship with pop icon Prince, Gary D. Hines and others from the Minneapolis Sound inspired her to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. In 1991, she formed Exact Image Entertainment Group and focused on booking and promoting celebrity speakers and entertainers.

Her first celebrity client was actor Esther Rolle, best known for her portrayal of Florida Evans on the hit television show “Good Times.”  She also worked with members of Dr. Martin Luther King’s family, actor Michael Beach, Isaac Hayes, Puff Daddy (Diddy) on “The No Way Out Tour,” in 1997 and numerous other speakers and celebrities. 
 
One of the highlights of her career was working with Academy Award winning filmmaker Kevin Willmott, as associate producer on “Ninth Street,” an independent film featuring Martin Sheen and Isaac Hayes. The film later won an Independent Film Channel award. Willmott is best known for his work with Academy Award winning filmmaker Spike Lee on “Confederate States of America,”“Chi-Raq” and “BlacKkKlansman.

Mi-Ling has always had a passion for acting since her first role as a background actor in “The Day After,” directed by Nicholas Meyer in 1983. And in 2016, Mi-Ling booked her first speaking role as a grand jury forewoman in the 2017 film “The Scent of Rain and Lightning,” directed by Blake Robbins. Unfortunately, her section ended up on the cutting room floor. Mi-Ling was also a featured background actor in “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer,” directed by Nick Searcy.

After graduating from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Mi-Ling worked as a freelance writer, advertising executive, a university administrator and a radio promotions director.  In 2001, she earned her master’s degree with an emphasis in public relations and communications from Oklahoma City University. Mi-Ling married her college sweetheart, now a physician, 39 years ago. They have two children and two grandchildren.
